In this episode of AfriWoman Chats co-produced with City of Sanctuary Sheffield, Tchiyiwe Chihana is joined by the Advocacy and System Change Team for a thoughtful conversation about sanctuary, dignity and the conditions that enable women to participate fully in community life.
Developed collaboratively with the Women Making Change programme, the discussion explores the realities of navigating the asylum system, the importance of culturally safe spaces and the barriers women face in rebuilding confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.
The women reflect on advocacy, leadership, community and the knowledge held by those with lived experience. Their conversation affirms women seeking sanctuary as active participants in public life, contributing to communities and shaping futures grounded in dignity, participation and self-determination.
