Stadium massacre victims call for more protection
Hadja Asmaou Diallo, President of the Association of Parents, Victims and Friends of the 28th September stadium massacre in Guinea, has appealed to the government to provide more protection for them and to all witnesses who come to court to give evidence. In an interview with AVP reporter, Baillor Jalloh, Mrs Diallo said victims are "traumatised" and some are scared to give evidence for the fear of their safety.
Guinea: Former president to face murder and corruption charges
Guinea’s Justice Minister, Alfonso Charles Wright has ordered judges in Conakry and Kankan to start the prosecution process against former President Alpha Conde and many of his former ministers on public embezzlement and corruption charges.
On Thursday 3rd November 2022, Wright released a list of 180 individuals which included former Prime Minister Dr. Ibrahim Kasory Forfana, former Defence Minister Dr. Mohamed Janneh, former Security Minister Dr Albert Damantan Camara and several others who had held government posts during Mr Conde’s 11 year rule. They are all accused of stealing public money for their own benefit.
Inauguration of UK-Francophone, West and Central Africa trade and investment forum
The first ever UK-Francophone West and Central Africa Trade and Investment Forum was held in London on Wednesday, 19th October, 2022. Organisers described the event as a huge success with hundreds of delegates and business leaders in attendance and deals worth nearly £200 million pounds were announced. Dozens killed in Sierra Leone’s anti-government protest
Sierra Leone’s Police have confirmed that 25 people were killed on Wednesday 10th August after violent protests erupted in parts of the country including the capital, Freetown.
According to the force, six of their officers and 21 civilians were killed during the unrest in Freetown and the eastern part of the country in Makeni and Kamakwie. As investigations continue, the Police reports that it has arrested 130 people with further arrests expected in the coming days.

Guinea: FNDC calls for nationwide protests against the military junta
Guinea’s Front National for the Defence of the Constitution (FNDC) have organised a nation-wide protest for Thursday 23rd June. This will be the first protest since the junta took over and is supported by the two main opposition parties in the country. The junta has banned all sorts of protest.
