Inside Crown of Blood: Music Director Kayefi Osha on the Music in the Play

African Voices Platform (AVP) is an official media partner for Crown of Blood, ‪Utopia Theatre’s major new production in collaboration with ‪Sheffield Theatres.

In this radio interview, Kayefi Osha Co-composer and Musical Director joins Tchiyiwe Chihana ‪to unpack the musical architecture of the play: how music, voice and composition hold ritual, power and emotional consequence within a Yoruba-reimagining of Macbeth.

Alongside the conversation, AVP programmes music from Kayefi’s wider catalogue, placing her compositional practice beyond the stage and into a broader listening context and allowing audiences to hear how her sound travels across theatre, radio and contemporary African diasporic music-making.
