Meanwhile, at the Ivorian booth, Ali, an Ivorian entrepreneur based in Shanghai, expressed aspirations for his country. “We are here to showcase Ivory Coast. We want to be like China,” he said earnestly. As one of the world’s largest cocoa producers, Ali stressed the importance of attracting Chinese investors to bolster local food production. “Currently, we have one of the biggest chocolate factories in Africa, located in Abidjan. We also produce cocoa butter cream and seek to expand our exports to China.”
